Dan Hurley Turns Down Lakers Offer

UConn Coach Focused on Huskies

Hurley, who has led the Huskies to back-to-back national championships, said he is committed to UConn.

Dan Hurley, who has led the UConn Huskies to back-to-back national championships, has turned down a six-year, $70 million offer to coach the Los Angeles Lakers, according to multiple reports.

Hurley, who played for the Lakers from 1994 to 1996, said in a statement that he is "100% committed" to UConn.

"I love the Lakers and I'm grateful for their interest," Hurley said. "But my heart is in Connecticut. I'm committed to this program and these players. We have unfinished business."

Hurley's decision is a major blow to the Lakers, who are looking for a new coach after firing Frank Vogel in April. Hurley was considered to be one of the top candidates for the job, but he ultimately decided to stay at UConn.
